Missions
The Mission Committee typically presents four special offerings each year. America for Christ (AFC) supports the American Baptist Home Mission. One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) supports emergency assistance throughout the world. The World Mission Offering (WMO) supports American Baptist International Ministries. The Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) supports thank you checks and emergency assistance for retired ministers and missionaries.
The World Mission Offering is designated to support the special interest of several specific Maine missionaries, including Bill and Ann Clemmer in the Congo, Pieter and Nora Kalkman in the Czech Republic, Daniel and Sarah Chetti in Lebanon, Tim and Patti Long in Mexico, Kit Ripley in Thailand, Kristy Engel (Global), and Mercedes Barnes (Global).
Every year we also donate to the White Cross. In 2019, our White Cross quota consisted of a doll, another toy, a basketball, a football, a soccer ball, a volley ball, some school supplies, five girls’ sweatshirts and sweatpants, and $50 in Walmart gift cards, as well as donations to cover postage. This was all sent to the Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell, Massachusetts.

In October, we collected for the World Mission Offering.
By the end of the month, we’d collected $700, which means each of our seven missionaries will receive $100 from NLBC to help fund their mission work.

In Fall 2019, the World Mission Offering theme was “Let Living Water Flow”
We always try to have a fun and unique way to track our missions giving as we work toward our goal. This is how we tracked our Living Water missions giving. We met our goal and needed to keep adding more containers to collect our symbolic Living Water.
